Dozens of deputies were sharing their legislative activities with people through social media channels such as Instagram and Twitter. After TikTok has become increasingly popular lately, proxies who also use this platform have taken action to add TikTok accounts to their resumes on the TBMM website.
The first step came from CHP İzmir Deputy Murat Minister. Arguing that TikTok is a suitable place to show its legislative activities, the Minister had a proposal to the Speaker of the Assembly on the subject.
The Deputy Chairman responded positively to this request of the Deputies.
The following statements were included in the proposal presented by the Minister to the parliament; “In particular, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok are the rising channels of recent years. On the page where the resumes and legislative activities of deputies are located, only links to social media channels called Facebook and Twitter can be added. A revision/study on adding access links to MPs’ YouTube and Instagram pages is made by making an arrangement here. Do you plan to do it?”
The name that accepted this motion of Murat Minister came not from the Speaker of the Assembly, Mustafa Şentop, but from the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Süreyya Sadi Bilgiç. Bilgic made the following statements in his statement; “It is possible to add the social media accounts of the deputies as the social media accounts of the deputies on the official website of the Parliament on the official website; if requested by our deputies, necessary changes can be made on their resume pages.”
