WhatsApp now has a decent option for those who want to transfer their chat history from an Apple iPhone to an Android smartphone (or vice versa). Meta, the parent company of the instant messaging app, has removed any barriers or limitations that hindered the process in the past.
Most Android smartphone users who own a Samsung-branded device had the ability to pull all WhatsApp data from an iPhone. This capability is now also available on Android smartphones made by other companies.
WhatsApp posted a tweet from its official Twitter user account confirming the ability to transfer chat history from an Apple iPhone to an Android smartphone and vice versa. The app promises users “the freedom to switch between devices of your choice”.
Transferring the entire WhatsApp chat history seems to be an incredibly easy or simple process.
WhatsApp largely uses the Move to iOS app to transfer chat history from an Android smartphone to an iPhone. The process requires downloading the app to the Android smartphone and then following the onscreen instructions that appear on the source and target devices. After the data is transferred, users can open WhatsApp on the target iPhone and log in using the phone number they used on the Android device.
However, it may be useful to remind you that the Move to iOS app can only move personal messages. It cannot transfer person-to-person payment messages. Also, the transferred data does not go to or through any cloud storage.
WhatsApp has yet to reveal the procedure to transfer chat history from an iPhone to an Android device. However, Google recently updated its Move to Android app, and it’s also available on the Apple App Store.
