Most pre-installed apps can now be removed in Windows 11

Windows 11 build 25931 has been released for Insider users. Microsoft allows removal of more stock apps in this release. Users can free up storage space by easily removing programs they will never need.

Windows 11 build 25931 has been released for Insider users. Microsoft allows removal of more stock apps in this release. Users will free up storage space by easily removing programs they will never need.

According to the release notes, Windows now allows removing the Photos app, Contacts app, and Remote Desktop client as well. Microsoft previously allowed the Cortana and Camera app to be deleted without using third-party uninstallers.

It’s pretty easy to uninstall a program that comes pre-installed on Windows 11. To uninstall the applications listed in Settings – Applications – Installed Applications, it is enough to right click and select “Uninstall”. The following applications installed in Windows 11 can be uninstalled:

  • Photos (new)
  • Contacts (new)
  • Remote Desktop (new)
  • Camera
  • Cortana
  • Calendar
  • Mail
  • Calculator
  • Hour
  • Feedback Center
  • Family
  • Movies and TV
  • maps
  • Media Player
  • Microsoft 365
