MoneyGram and its relationship with the cryptocurrency space

As Cryptokoin.com reported, MoneyGram is well-known in the field for its partnerships with pioneering projects in the field of cryptocurrencies. The most popular of these, though no longer available, can be cited as the Ripple (XRP) partnership. Apart from that, MoneyGram announced its first partnership with Coinme in May 2021 to build a crypto-to-cash model by building a bridge to connect Bitcoin to the native fiat currency. The partnership has further expanded access to Bitcoin by creating thousands of new point-of-sale locations to buy and sell Bitcoin. Apart from that, the company announced that it invested in the cryptocurrency exchange Coinme.

About the investment realized in early 2022 “The amount of MoneyGram’s strategic investment in Coinme has not been disclosed, but gives the firm a 4 percent stake in the Seattle-based company. As a result, MoneyGram has now established direct ownership in Coinme.” Apart from that, traditional cross-border payments giant MoneyGram announced that it is working with the Stellar Blockchain network to create instant money transfers using Circle’s USDC stablecoin. The companies started working in the fourth quarter of 2021. It will see the gradual rollout of a ledger-based stablecoin bridge between cryptocurrencies and local currencies to connect MoneyGram’s 150 million or so consumers.
