Data.ai research company focused on the global mobile application market. As a result of the studies, it was concluded that the global spending on mobile games decreased by 5% in 2022. One of the reasons for this trend stands out as high inflation, which requires consumers to save more.

Total mobile gaming spending fell to $110 billion last year, according to Data.ai. Despite this, the number of first installs of mobile games increased by 8% compared to the previous year, breaking a record with 90 billion.

Purchases in non-game apps reached $58 billion, up 6% year-on-year, largely driven by paid subscriptions and spending on streaming apps, as well as dating apps and short video services like TikTok.

There is also a decrease in overall spending.

During the reporting period, non-game application downloads increased by 13% compared to the previous year and were recorded as 165 billion. However, this was not enough to compensate for the decrease in spending on mobile games.

Consumer spending in mobile app stores fell 2% to $167 billion. Data.ai expects global mobile gaming spending to decline by 3% to $107 billion in 2023.
