The virtual and augmented reality world has recently focused on Apple. Because the company will officially introduce the first mixed reality glasses at the WWDC 2023 events that will start on June 5th. While all this was going on, an unexpected move came from China. Technology company OPPO announced the mixed reality glasses “MR Glass” as part of the Augmented World Expo events. However, the end user, unfortunately, will not be able to access this product.
OPPO MR Glass appeared as a kit with impressive features. Quite similar to Meta’s mixed reality glasses Quest 2, the kit is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ platform. The mixed reality glasses, which host a pair of RGB cameras on the front, promise a 120 Hz refresh rate. The glasses, which have OPPO’s SUPERVOOC fast charging system, also include heart rate detection sensors.
OPPO MR Glass is designed for developers
We mentioned that OPPO MR Glass will not reach the end user. This is because the mixed reality glasses are designed for developers. Developers who purchase the product will be able to design applications or games with virtual or augmented reality support with this kit. Applications or games developed through OPPO MR Glass can be experienced with mixed reality glasses of brands such as Meta or Apple.
In the statements made by OPPO, not much detail was given about MR Glass. The company said the product will only be launched in China, which will happen in the second half of the year. It is not known for now what the price of OPPO MR Glass will be.
