iMessage is an instant messaging service developed by Apple. The application, which allows the company to instant messaging between its own devices, takes its place on Apple devices as of iOS 5. iMessage allows Apple users to send messages, documents, files such as photos and videos to each other. However, in the coming period, this application can do much more.
Mixed reality glasses and messaging app in one
According to the information received, Apple will significantly overhaul the messages application with the introduction of the mixed reality glasses next year. Twitter user ‘Majin Bu’ claimed that Apple is working on an entirely new version of iMessage that includes a new homepage skin, chat rooms, video clips and more.
The most striking detail in the renewed application will be the augmented reality detail. The application, which is said to offer new augmented reality-supported chat features, has created quite a stir in this regard. This is why the renewed application is expected to be introduced with Apple’s new augmented reality glasses.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who often gives accurate information about Apple’s plans, announced that Apple’s mixed reality glasses will focus on gaming, media and communication. With iOS 16, Apple brought SharePlay to its messaging service, allowing multiple users to keep track of movies or songs together, as well as chat.
Now this experience seems to reach a different level with mixed reality glasses and the updated iMessage app. It is also among the news that the mixed reality glasses will come with a completely new operating system that can be called “rOS” or “realityOS” codenamed “Oak”.
Apple has been working on RealityOS since 2017. RealityOS will likely support many of Apple’s existing apps. For this reason, there is a possibility that the Messages application will come up with a very different experience. Especially for activities done together, the new iMessage seems quite suitable.
