According to data provided by Apple on one of its developer support pages, less than three-quarters of all Apple iPhone models released in the last four years have been upgraded to iOS 15. The speed of this conversion seems to be a little slower than previous iOS updates.

As of December 2020, Apple states that 81 percent of all iPhones produced in the last four years are using iOS 14. On the other hand, only 63 percent of devices that have the opportunity to run iOS 15 use iOS 15. In 2020, this rate was 72 percent.

This shows that most of the users do not consider the promotion messages to the new operating system that appear on their screens. Performance or stability isn’t thought to be the reason why users don’t want to be promoted. Because iOS 15 is an operating system that can be called error-free and adds value to even old iPhones.

The main reasons to oppose the change may be interface changes, changes in the Safari browser, and users do not want to move away from the original interface.

Still, these numbers don’t seem to worry Apple. Apple updates are way ahead when compared to Google’s Android updates. Last year, Google said that the majority of Android users are still using older versions of Android. The rate of users using the latest Android version is only 26.5 percent.
