For many years, PC Game Pass was only available on Windows 10 and 11 through the Microsoft Store. However, Steam remains the most popular store for buying games, and this shortcoming is becoming more and more noticeable as subscription services become more popular.
While it’s unclear whether Microsoft plans to add PC Game Pass to Steam, Valve executive Gabe Newell seems willing to work with Microsoft to add PC Game Pass to Steam. At the moment it is not clear how this will work, but it can be predicted that a new solution will be found with the cooperation of both parties.
Newell said in an interview with PC Gamer, “I don’t think [the PC Game Pass equivalent] is something we think we should be doing ourselves right now. PC Game Pass is clearly a popular option for Microsoft customers and we’re happy to work with them to make it available on Steam. We will be very happy,” he said.
