Microsoft trims Windows 11’s folder options
Folder Options in Windows 11’s File Explorer will be largely cropped. According to Microsoft, these options “have been in Windows for a long time and are not used regularly by Windows 11 users”. On the other hand, it should be noted that the final decision for this arrangement has not been made yet. However, Microsoft’s current statements indicate that it will be part of a future Windows 11 update.
The most important of the removed features is the ‘Show drive letters’ option. This feature, which allows the drives in Windows to be displayed as the letters “C” or “D”, has been the basis of Windows for a long time. However, it should be noted that this is obvious most of the time. So removing the feature will essentially make it more difficult to disable.
Here are the features to remove from File Options
- Hide Folder Merge conflicts.
- Always show icon, don’t show thumbnail
- Display file icon in thumbnails
- Display file type information in folder tips
- Hide protected operating system files
- Show drive letters.
- Show popup text description for Folder and Desktop items
- Display encrypted or compressed NTFS files in different color
- Use the sharing wizard
