Microsoft lightens Edge
Microsoft previously mentioned in the final beta channel release notes on August 25 that these features will be “retired”. The company said the reason for this was to “improve the end-user experience and simplify more tool menus”.
Microsoft has to find a way to differentiate itself as it tries to get more people to use the Edge browser instead of the more popular Google Chrome browser. Bing with artificial intelligence was a strong step towards this, but it is not enough on its own to attract users to the browser. However, the Edge browser has tons of features. Sometimes too many extra features can simply be perceived as clutter. If you’ve never heard of or used the above features for the first time, they’re probably just bloating your browser.
The new Edge 117 version will not only remove features. This version will come with a few key innovations such as the ability to switch from work to personal browsing, the new Smart Discovery feature, and the improved Microsoft Edge for Business experience such as E-tree in Wallet.
