Microsoft has been using the name “Copilot” for its artificial intelligence services for a while, but according to a new claim, the company plans to rename its artificial intelligence assistant and other artificial intelligence-supported features as “Windows Intelligence”.
References in the appprivacy.adml file, which was recently shared on X, indicate that the artificial intelligence-supported features of Windows 11 can be collected under this name.
Placing artificial intelligence at the core of the Windows operating system has been a long-term goal of Microsoft. The company has deployed Copilot into many of Windows’ built-in applications in recent months and will continue this process further. It is stated that since the company does not consider artificial intelligence separately from Windows, it thinks that the name Windows Intelligence would be more compatible.
Microsoft’s new name may have been inspired by Apple
Rumors indicate that Microsoft chose this name inspired by Apple’s artificial intelligence, “Apple Intelligence”. Additionally, since there is no copyright claim on the word “Intelligence”, Microsoft’s choice seems to have been made to create the perception of an artificial intelligence-supported operating system in the minds of users. Although the strategy of taking inspiration from a rival brand may seem surprising, such examples have been experienced before in the technology world.
The latest updates to Copilot show that Microsoft will continue to market its artificial intelligence assistant and artificial intelligence-supported applications for a long time. The new Copilot ‘Discover’ page, designed with a card-style system, and chat features that can be customized according to your interests are an important indicator that this transformation will not only consist of a name change.
