Microsoft OneDrive support is coming to Mac devices with Apple Silicon processors

Microsoft’s synchronization application OneDrive previously worked with Rosetta 2 emulator on all Apple Silicon supported Mac devices. Rosetta 2 enabled applications that run on Macs with Intel processors to run on Macs with Apple Silicon support. However, using an emulator was causing the application’s performance to slow down.

Microsoft was testing a native version in 2021 so that OneDrive could run on Apple Silicon powered Mac computers without the need for any emulators. While it was expected that the testing phases would be over and the current version of the application would be available by the end of 2021, there were minor delays. However, Microsoft kept its word despite the delays and released the update this week.

OneDrive gets Apple Silicon support

Microsoft has released an update to its cloud-based storage service OneDrive with version number 22,022. With this update, the long-awaited Apple Silicon support is coming to the application. Thus, OneDrive’s macOS application will run better on Macs with M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max processors.
