Microsoft is making its DALL-E powered AI renderer “available on desktop for Edge users around the world.” The company added rendering technology to its Bing chatbot and Edge last month. However, the feature was only available to those who could try the new Bing, but this move makes the tool available to a much wider audience.

Anyone can use Edge’s AI renderer

Microsoft first added the Image Creator tool, powered by OpenAI’s DALL-E artificial intelligence, to Bing’s ChatGPT-like Chat section, and then brought the feature to Edge’s sidebar. These features were available to those using the preview version of the new Bing. The “Image Creator” feature is very simple to use. You write an image you want in the query section with your sentences and Bing produces four different outputs for you. These images can be created with simple sentence queries or as a result of more complex queries. For example, you might want Bing to create a landscape photo using a filter from Kodak.

Microsoft offers this feature as a way to create “exclusive” images when working on social media posts or slideshows and documents. Of course, artificial intelligence renderers have been around for a while, but adding them to a browser we use all the time makes it much easier to access them. If your Edge browser is up to date, you need to activate the “Image Creator” feature by clicking the “+” icon in the sidebar. Microsoft also continues to add a number of new features to Edge. Features such as the file sharing feature called Drop and in-browser image editing will be added to Edge in future versions.
