After this, it received Android 11 in January 2022 and was later upgraded to Android 12L in October. Thus, we can say that it received two major Android versions.

On the other hand, Microsoft announced that the device will not receive any Android version upgrades or security patches as of September 10, 2023. Therefore, we can say that there is not enough support for a phone in this price range. Of course, just because Microsoft no longer releases updates doesn’t mean your Surface Duo will suddenly stop working. You can continue to use the foldable phone without any problems. However, it is worth noting that your device will be vulnerable to security threats.

Let us also remind you that update support will continue for Surface 2. Because Microsoft Surface Duo 2, which was first released with Android 11, received the Android 12L update last October, and the update support will continue until October 2024.
