You may not have used Bing recently, or even had a lifelong business with Bing. But an update to Microsoft Edge could make you suddenly find yourself heading towards that search engine, as the software giant brings its search engine to the fore in a brand new Sidebar menu.
As Windows Latest reports, Edge’s new Sidebar menu has started rolling out to users in the browser’s Canary channel, and besides featuring Bing, you can use a calculator without leaving the browser, read emails in Outlook, It lets you browse MSN browser games and more.
Edge’s Sidebar menu lets you email, use a calculator, convert various units, and even test your internet speed. The same is true for Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Edge’s new Sidebar menu may look familiar to Vivaldi users, as it works similarly. Both are features that come in handy when you need to do some quick work but don’t want to open a new tab or a separate window.
Microsoft, Along with all the other new features in Edge’s Sidebar menu, there is another option that lets you add your favorite sites so you can perform contextual actions without interrupting your workflow.
Sidebar is not yet generally available, so most sites are not optimized for smaller screen space. It can be predicted that more sites will be optimized as more Edge users start using this feature.
If you don’t want to use Edge’s Sidebar, you can disable it using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+/. You can also use the same keyboard shortcut to activate the Sidebar.
If you want to try Edge’s Sidebar, you must be using the Edge Canary version and you can find a new ‘Sidebar’ option in the browser’s menu that allows you to use the new feature.
