Microsoft continues to produce Surface PC models. The company introduced the new Surface models it added to its product range at the virtual event it organized. The top model is based on the $4,300 price of the new computers, which take the stage as the Surface Studio 2+, Surface Pro 9, and Surface Laptop 5. Here are the new Surface computers that Microsoft introduced:
Microsoft Surface Studio 2 Plus
The most expensive model introduced by Microsoft is the Surface Studio 2+. While the price of this device is 4 thousand 300 dollars, the features of this device are of course the top shirt. So what’s inside this expensive machine?
Surface Studio 2+ has a 28-inch touchscreen and 11th generation Core i7-11370H processor. Yes, while Intel’s 13th generation processors are quite close, Microsoft’s choice of this processor has been a bit interesting. But what Microsoft hopes will be worth the cost is the Nvidia RTX 3060 laptop GPU with 6GB of VRAM built into the device. With the laptop configuration this GPU will need less than half of the original wattage it would need in a PC case.
The rest of the features on the Surface Studio 2+ are pretty standard. These include 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD. There are also 3 USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports for connecting peripherals, including 4K monitors.
Surface Studio 2+ is available for pre-order. Shipment will begin at the end of the month.
Microsoft Surface Pro 9
There are two different variations of the Surface Pro 9. In the laptop, you can choose one of the new 12th generation Intel CPUs or a 5G capable ARM processor.
About 2 years ago, Microsoft used a version of the ARM chip inside this laptop with the Surface Pro X. It seems that this time, the company saw fit to add to it and offered the new model with 2 options.
Surface Pro 9 carries the design signed by Microsoft. The Intel-based variant comes with a Core i5-1235U or Core i7-1255U CPU. Featuring a 13-inch PixelSense display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 1080p webcam, up to 32GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD, the laptop also has 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports for connecting external monitors and peripherals. .
The features of the ARM variant are more limited. With a maximum of 16GB of RAM and a maximum of 512GB of storage, this model is also not compatible with the Intel version’s Thunderbolt 4 ports. It uses USB-C 3.2 instead. However, this version has built-in support for 5G and eSIM, thus allowing it to work in a mobile environment.
The Intel version of the Surface Pro 9 is available for $1000, and the ARM version is available for $1300. Both are currently available for pre-order and will begin shipping later this month.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 5
Finally, the Surface Laptop 5 is featured in Microsoft’s device showcase. The Surface Laptop 5 looks like an updated iteration of the Surface Laptop 4, which we thought was almost perfect last year.
But this year’s models are only available with Intel chips. The Surface Laptop 5 comes with a choice of 12th generation Core i5-1235U processor or higher performance Core i7-1255U processor. Each laptop can be configured with 8GB to 32GB of RAM and 256GB to 1TB of storage. There are also 2 screen sizes: the model starting at $ 1000 has a 13.5-inch screen, and the model starting at $ 1300 has a 15-inch screen.
Microsoft says the Surface Laptop 5’s smaller size has up to 18 hours of battery life on the go, and can fast charge up to 50 percent in just half an hour. If you like the idea of the Surface Laptop 5 but aren’t too keen on screen size, you can use the device’s Thunderbolt 4 compatibility to work on larger monitors. Surface Laptop 5 also connects to WiFi 6. This model is also currently available for pre-order and will ship again towards the end of the month.
