Bill Gates, the founder of software giant Microsoft, is one of the richest people in the world. That’s why he often comes to the fore with his investments. Gates recently bought 3.76% of Heineken Holdings.It should be noted that the total value of these shares, based on the current share price, is approximately $1 billion (883 million euros to be exact). Gates plans to spend some of the profits he will make from this to charity, as he has done before.
“I’m not a heavy beer drinker”
Although the founder of Microsoft has invested a huge amount in the Netherlands’ largest brewer, he doesn’t consider himself a die-hard beer drinker. “For example, when I go to a baseball game, I can sip a light beer to fit the mood, nothing more,” he said in an interview on Reddit a few years ago.
In addition, Gates and his ex-wife’s foundation recently sponsored a study on the potential health risks of drinking beer. Bill Gates also invested in a beer company in 2007. But it was more modest: only $392 million.
