Microsoft has fixed an issue that caused file copy speed to be nearly doubled after upgrading to Windows 11 2022. With the update numbered KB5022913, the software giant has eliminated the low performance problem experienced in large file transfers.

“This update fixes an issue that makes copying files from the network to the local drive slower than expected for some users,” Microsoft said on the support page for the new update. The fix in question is included in the KB5022913 package, which also offers Moment 2 features.

Added in the March 2023 Tuesday Patch

According to the company, the problem is most likely caused by transactions made through the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol. However, there were those who encountered the same problem when copying files locally. Microsoft has been testing the fix as part of the Insider program for several months.

It is now available to everyone via Windows 11 22H2 Moment 2 update (KB5022913). Those who install the fix that will be available as part of tomorrow’s patch Tuesday will notice the improvements. File copying will become as fast as in Windows 10.
