In the test version of Windows 11 Build 25281, Microsoft is finally bringing a new but should have feature to the operating system: More detailed volume control. Windows 11 and even Windows 10’s poor volume controls have been pushing users into third-party apps like EarTrumpet, and it looks like Microsoft is bringing similar features to Windows 11.

Windows 11’s volume control capabilities will increase

The recently released Windows 11 build 25281 finally brings advanced audio controls innovations that allow you to change the volume for certain apps, switch between output devices and enable additional features like Spatial Audio.

In version 22H2 (22621), which is currently used by the end user, the volume controls are extremely limited. Only general volume and audio output devices can be adjusted. And it requires tons of clicks for more detailed adjustments. This issue is actually a Windows issue for years, and many users used third-party apps like EarTrumpet to mute the browser, for example.

On the other hand, let’s state that Microsoft has not officially announced this change. This feature may be one of the dozens of features that Microsoft has experimentally tested and not brought to normal Windows 11 versions. However, such experimental features are already noticed by those who tinkered with the operating system long before Microsoft’s official announcement.
