Recently, we said goodbye to Internet Explorer, Microsoft’s internet browser. One of the most popular jokes at that time was “The best Google Chrome downloader we’ve ever used”. While Explorer was replaced by Microsoft Edge, Chrome’s dominance continued.

New research shows that Microsoft Edge has become a more preferred alternative in some markets, although it has not managed to settle on the throne of Chrome. Moreover, this market is not such a small market, it is the browser market preferred by employees in businesses.

Employees are closer to Microsoft Edge

In a study by TechRadar Pro, 3000 employees were interviewed. According to this study conducted in collaboration with Perimeter 81, Microsoft Edge became the first choice of employees with a preference rate of 33.77%. Google Chrome took second place.

Although the 33.01% share of Chrome is very close, it is clear that Microsoft Edge is more preferred. The fact that Edge is preferred by general internet users around 4% in the research conducted by Statcounter makes the success of Microsoft’s browser in this market more striking.

Edge’s job is not easy

Although used by employees at work, Microsoft Edge is not yet in a position to seek market leadership. Although it has surpassed Firefox, one of the important actors of the industry, Edge still has two rivals, Safari and Chrome, and its market share is far below both of its competitors. In addition, another problem for Microsoft is that Chrome is the default browser on Android devices and Safari is the default browser on iOS devices.

Nevertheless, Edge continues to find new users at this stage, thanks to its ongoing marketing campaigns and its direct integration with Windows 11, despite some problems. The choice of Edge for businesses may support the spread of Edge use in the home in a different way.
