Many web browsers, such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, use a lock icon in the address bar to indicate that you are connected to the website over a secure HTTPS connection. Now, when you look at the address line, you will see this lock icon. However, this lock icon is misunderstood by many users and causes the site to think otherwise rather than being safe. While Chrome has been looking for ways to change this confusion for a while, it finally decided to replace it with a “down arrow”.
In the statement made by Chrome, only 11 percent of the participants in the survey study knew the meaning of the aforementioned lock icon correctly, and they decided that this section should be expanded, while it was said that they had to change this icon. And this decision was also accepted by Microsoft.
