Microsoft, OpenAI and Office triangle
According to The Information, Microsoft has already included an unknown version of OpenAI’s text-generating GPT model in Word. Now, Microsoft is trying to deepen this integration and add it to PowerPoint and Outlook.
Microsoft is not only interested in the GPT language models of OpenAI, but also in the ChatGPT product. It had come to the fore a while ago that the company was working on a version of Bing using ChatGPT. This new feature could be rolled out in March to make Bing more competitive with Google.
Microsoft has trouble integrating GPT into Office
Microsoft will face many challenges as it brings more advanced AI text generation capabilities to productivity apps. The first of these, of course, is “accuracy”. ChatGPT still has a tendency to present false information as fact. Therefore, this can complicate document creation or advanced integration in professional use.
For now, Microsoft does not have an official roadmap on this subject, but it is known that the company is working on these activities. If Microsoft hadn’t seen the gem here, it wouldn’t have invested $1 billion in 2019. Considering the software giant’s product lineup, OpenAI’s GPT-3 and upcoming GPT-4 models, ChatGPT chat tool, and rendering tools like Dall-E can come in handy.
