Microsoft continues to test new features for Windows 11 every week. The software giant is adding a better Snipping Tool and the long-questioned autosave feature for Notepad to the latest features tested on the Dev and Canary channels in the Windows Insider program.

New features in Notepad and Snipping Tool

Anyone who has tried to close Notepad for the past 40 years has encountered a dialog asking if they want to save changes. But soon this dialog will take its journey into the dusty shelves of history. Because Microsoft adds the auto-save feature to Notepad. You will no longer need to manually save your changes. Microsoft previously brought tabs and dark mode features for Notepad.

Notepad will automatically restore any previously open tabs as well as any unsaved content and edits on those open tabs. Besides, Microsoft is bringing the Snipping Tool in Windows with a better screen recording interface. It adds a new keyboard shortcut to go directly to screen recording instead of clicking from the screenshot toolbar, and a new default audio source option, so it’s possible to add microphone input as well as computer audio. We can say that this will be very useful.
