It is a fact that the Edge browser, which comes installed with Windows 10 and 11, is considered as a tool for many users to download the Chrome browser. This is very upsetting to Microsoft, and the company is trying hard to keep users on Edge. And sometimes this preoccupation can be found as “too offensive” by users.

The last example of this happens when a user wants to download Chrome. Edge Canary users now encounter two ads that Edge shows them when they want to download Chrome. The first is smaller and appears when the Chrome website loads. The second is a huge, full-screen ad.

Microsoft also makes puns to cast a shadow over Chrome. The ad states that Edge uses the same technology as Chrome, with “the added trust of Microsoft.”

To be fair, Microsoft isn’t the only company struggling to increase its user base. Google also shows banners to promote Chrome, but these only appear on the company’s websites. Google doesn’t display ads on the Firefox website or “cry” when you want to download another browser.
