The artificial intelligence race of technology giants continues unabated. Microsoft responded to the trend that started with ChatGPT by launching Bing and Google by launching Bard. Meta announced that they are continuing their efforts to participate in this race.
And now Microsoft has announced that it has changed the name of Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise to Microsoft Copilot.
Now, those who want to interact with Microsoft’s artificial intelligence chatbot can access Copilot at https://copilot.microsoft.com. In addition to rebranding and porting Bing Chat, the company announced that Copilot will support OpenAI’s GPTs, meaning users will be able to create their own custom versions of Copilot.
OpenAI announced this at its Dev Day event earlier this month and rolled out the feature to paying customers. Microsoft said in a statement: “To help make Copilot even more powerful, versatile, and creative, we’re announcing support for OpenAI GPTs. GPTs are a new way for anyone to create a custom version of Copilot for specific tasks. GPT combined with previously announced support for OpenAI schema plugins ‘s and add-ons will create a new opportunity between users and professional developers, offering users experiences and interactions tailored to meet their needs,” he said.
It will be interesting to see how users and the broader consumer market react to Bing Chat’s transformation into Microsoft Copilot, but the company clearly seems to have the feeling that it will be more successful under Microsoft rather than the Bing brand.
