Microsoft’s search engine has always been secondary to Google. However, interest in the Bing search engine increased when the software giant dived into the artificial intelligence craze in collaboration with OpenAI. The company is now taking every opportunity to get people to start using Bing.

Microsoft has already begun probing the ground to make Bing the default search engine in Firefox. According to The Information website, the company wants to bid to make its own search engine Firefox’s default search engine.

Google deal with Mozilla ends

Mozilla’s contract with Google expires this year. Microsoft is keen to replace Google to attract as many users as possible to Bing. However, there is no guarantee that this move will be successful. After all, Firefox users who don’t want to use Bing can switch to another search engine.

An even more compelling opportunity is looming, which Microsoft can seize to bring Bing to a wider audience. Safari, the main browser on Apple devices, is out of contract with Google next year. Microsoft could step in and try to make Bing the default search engine on iPhones.
