Like any other big company, Microsoft doesn’t like people leaking upcoming products. But the software giant also doesn’t seem to mind a “controlled leak” sometimes made by its own managers. Phil Spencer, for example, is no stranger to showing pictures of future gear. The latest Tweet from the head of the Microsoft Gaming Department was promoting Fallout’s Vault Boy game. But what was interesting was that the Xbox’s streaming box codenamed “Keystone” was visible in the background.
Vault Boy left the shelter and stopped by my office to celebrate the #Fallout25 Anniversary. Congratulations to the @Fallout @Bethesda teams on this major milestone for an iconic franchise. pic.twitter.com/hGoN1sAQRK

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of the Xbox “Keystone”. The first rumors about “Keystone” are already a few years old, and earlier this year Microsoft confirmed that the project is on its way to market. It looks like Spencer’s tweet was the first appearance of the upcoming device.
Xbox “Keystone” is a device that will be used to bring Xbox cloud streaming to any TV or monitor. It will allow customers to play Xbox games without the console, as well as access extra apps like Netflix or Hulu. It will be very interesting to see how Microsoft will position this new device, especially considering the company’s partnerships that have integrated Xbox Cloud Streaming into TVs, eliminating the need for extra hardware.
