Micron said in a statement that it will build a huge facility in New York City in the next 20 years and will cost a total of $100 billion. This figure will be the largest private investment in the city’s history.
The facilities, which will be approximately the size of 40 American football fields, will create employment opportunities for 50 thousand people. An important part of the company’s plan to make 40 percent of DRAM production in the USA will take place through these facilities. Previously, facilities were built in different regions.
Micron plans to invest $20 billion in the first 10 years. The first section will begin construction in 2024 and will be ready for production around 2030. The remaining sections are planned to be completed by 2040 or 2045. Micron also set aside a $250 million fund for the project so that disabled citizens can find jobs easily.
