On the eve of Nvidia’s introduction of its new generation GeForce RTX 4000 graphics cards, the new generations of GDDR6X memories produced only for itself have also completed their preparations. 24Gbps GDDR6X memories enter mass production.
24Gbps GDDR6X memories
The 24Gbps GDDR6X memories prepared by Micron contain 16Gb density per module and are prepared as 2GB VRAM packages. 24GB capacity is obtained with 12 GDDR6X packages, while a 384-bit bus is used. Bandwidth is 1.1TB/s. In this series, 1.5TB/s is achieved with 512-bit bus, while 192GB/s is achieved with 64-bit.
It’s getting harder to find work at chip giants
Since the modules will be placed on the front of the circuit board, the cooling issue is made more efficient. Of course, 24Gbps GDDR6X memory will be exclusive to GeForce RTX 4090 Ti graphics cards in the first place. 21Gbps speeds are claimed to be possible for the GeForce RTX 4090.
AMD will continue to use GDDR6 memory. Its partner, Samsung, announced that it had reached 24Gbps speeds in GDDR6 memory. Production of these memories is expected to start in the coming days.
