HTC was in the position of Apple and Samsung for a while in the smartphone industry. The company officially ushered in the Android era with the HTC Dream, which it launched in 2008. It continued this success for several years, but after the increase in competitors in the market, it started to lose blood day by day.
As of 2022, unfortunately HTC’s charts are not readable. However, the company is still working on smartphones. In fact, it is alleged that it will soon launch a Metaverse-focused flagship.
Metaverse-focused smartphone claim for HTC
HTC sold its smartphone division to Google for $1.1 billion in 2018, after the market’s business came to a dead end. While it was thought that the company would withdraw from the market with the sale, it continued to appear with a limited number of entry and mid-segment models. Of course, let’s also mention that it is far from its old days.
The company, which has not introduced any high-end phones since 2018, is claimed to launch a Metaverse-focused device soon. The model in question even appeared in the Telefication database with the code name 2QBK200.
The device will be integrated with the Viverse platform, which was introduced at MWC 2022, developed for a ‘safe virtual world’. It will be in the concept of Metaverse, which we have heard about recently. It will also focus on Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies. However, for now, there is not the slightest information about its technical features and design. Also, previous reports say that the phone will be introduced in June.
