Today, we see that many different companies are investing in the Metaverse field, just as they do in the NFT field. So much so that there are many companies in our list, from games to luxury clothing brands. However, investments in this field are not limited to what happens in the virtual world.
Many technology giants are working on products and services to increase the consistency and functionality of this area. Today, Sony, one of these companies, is before us with the virtual reality (VR) headset that can offer 4K and 8K resolution, which it introduced at the Technology Day event.
4K and 8K image possibilities with virtual reality:
The VR headset in question avoids the problem of ‘distortion of reality’ caused by the pixelation that occurs as it approaches objects. For this, 4K OLED screens are used. The OLED panels used in the VR headset in question contain twice as many dots as the OLED panels we see on smartphones.
In addition, the ‘latency problem’, which again brings the reality down, has been minimized thanks to the multiple receivers on the title. This, in turn, enables faster processing of the external image and a more consistent virtual reality experience.
In 4K and 8K options, monoscopic and stereoscopic images come into play. To put it roughly, in the monoscopic scenario, an image is shown to both eyes. In the stereoscopic scenario, two separate images are displayed for both eyes. It should be noted that the image shown here is the same in every scenario, but the image quality increases when given to both eyes separately.
It was also stated that the VR headset, which is expected to be used in the metaverse field and the design sector, can be used in the entertainment, health and engineering sectors. To learn what Metaverse is, you can take a look at our video, which we explain in a comprehensive but short way.
