Meta has announced its newest service that will step up to artificial intelligence-focused technologies. The new tool, called “MusicGen” and offered as open source, will create unique music for musicians. The musician’s addition of a detailed text description will determine what kind of music the artificial intelligence will create. To give an example; With MusicGen, you will be able to create music in the mood of the 80s or in rap style.
In addition to 10,000 high-quality licensed tracks, MusicGen has been trained with more than 390,000 instrument-only tracks via platforms such as ShutterStock and Pond5, according to a Meta statement. Explaining that the training lasted for 20 thousand hours, Meta also created different models for musicians to create the most suitable content for them.
MusicGen can also be used with reference tracks!
One of the remarkable features of MusicGen is that it can also be used with reference tracks. Let’s say you are a musician and your lyrics are ready. But when it comes to composing, you get stuck. So if you upload a reference track to MusicGen, the AI will try to emulate that track. In this way, unfinished compositions can be completed. Of course, this has a downside. So much so that stolen parts can also be created with this technology.
MusicGen offers a very simple user experience. After reaching the artificial intelligence tool, it is enough to provide information about the song you are working on and add a reference, if any, to create the music. MusicGen allows you to listen to the music created after a few minutes of waiting or download it to your computer if you want. After that, you can transfer the music created by artificial intelligence to another software and continue working on your piece. Meanwhile; we did a few tries and MusicGen usually created us 12 seconds of music.
