The ConsenSys-controlled crypto wallet and infrastructure provider posted the message “MetaMask and Infura are not available in certain jurisdictions due to regulatory compliance” in a joint blog post. The post mentioned that users in some regions may receive this type of error message. The post was later updated to

“By default, MetaMask accesses the blockchain via Infura, which is unavailable in certain jurisdictions due to regulatory compliance”

In post “specific jurisdictions” It remains unclear which regions are located. Venezuelan users, on the other hand, stated that they experienced service interruptions.

Following the blog post, Infura stated in its tweet that the restrictions were intended, but spread over a wide area due to technical glitches.

In the statement made on the official Twitter account of the project, the following statements were included.

“When changing some configurations as a result of new enforcement directives from the United States and other jurisdictions, we have inadvertently configured settings more broadly than they should have been.

This was something we overlooked and we are grateful to have been warned. After determining what happened, we were able to fix the problem and service has been restored”
