Meta has launched a trial program that allows some creators to get paid for what they create for Horizon Worlds, the firm’s metaverse platform.
The company said on Monday that Meta will be working with several creators as part of a testing program that will allow them to “try out different ways to monetize” virtual items and effects within Horizon Worlds. Meta said the tools are “steps towards our long-term vision for the metaverse, where creators can make a living and people can buy digital products, services and experiences.”
Meta may include the ability to “sell wearables for a fashion world or offer paid access to a new part of the world.” Currently only Horizon Worlds users in Canada and the US can shop if they are over 18 years old.
The company is further expanding the $10 million Horizon Creators Fund it announced last October, which is used to fund Horizon Worlds creators.
