Twitter, which came to the fore with various problems and discussions, especially after Elon Musk took over, may leave its place to a new player. According to Platformer, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram, is working on a text-based social media service that will directly rival Twitter.

Meta comes to rival Twitter

If we recall, it was recently claimed that Meta employees and managers were developing a new Twitter alternative. However, we haven’t heard any progress since then. Now Meta is developing a decentralized social network called P92 where users can share updates on their interests, according to an email sent privately to Platformer.

According to the shared details, the P92 will carry Instagram’s branding and allow users to register and log in using their Instagram credentials. Thus, user information will be transferred to the new platform quickly. However, sources state that this data transfer will be minimal.

In addition, the new application, with its decentralized structure, will allow users to set up their own servers and set their own rules for content control. At this point, we can say that the structure in question is quite different from other platforms of Meta and requires a great deal of work.

As far as we know, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri will take the leadership seat of the project, which is still in its infancy. We think that more information about the new platform will be shared in the coming days.
