Facebook owner Meta, which has been suffering from personal data breaches for a long time, has updated its privacy policy. The rewritten privacy policy will be used on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and other Meta products. However, a separate privacy policy will be used for WhatsApp, Workplace, Quest and Messenger Kids accounts, which are opened without using a Facebook account.
Meta won’t collect your user data in new ways
Meta stated that the newly written privacy policy is no longer the Facebook privacy policy. The new privacy policy is Meta’s privacy policy and has been rewritten to make it easier to understand. Meta states that with its renewed privacy policy, Meta will not collect personal data in new ways.
Electronic Privacy Information Center consultant John Davisson, in his comment to The Verge, said it was well-heard that Meta won’t collect data in new ways, but Facebook has already stated that it sells industrial-scale users data to the advertising ecosystem. The new privacy policy, which Meta will make available on July 26, will not change anything for many users.
