Meta, the flag carrier of the metaverse world, announced its first physical store. Meta Store, which will sell Quest 2 virtual reality glasses and Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses to customers in the US, will act as a promotional role for the metaverse.
The new retail store called Meta Store, which is scheduled to open on May 9 in Los Angeles, will combine the virtual world with the physical world. The store, which plans to present Meta’s projects in the virtual world, will allow to “interact with everything”.
What is Meta Store? Do you need a physical store for Metaverse?
Meta also participated in the intermittent physical store opening experience of technology companies. Physical outlets, previously tested by companies such as Google and Microsoft, offer customers the opportunity to experience the companies’ products. Meta’s new Meta Store will also contain test areas for the metaverse.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who made statements during the announcement of Meta Store in Los Angeles, drew attention to the virtual reality world. “The best way to understand virtual reality is to experience it,” Zuckerberg said.
As part of the announcement, customers will be offered the opportunity to experience metaverse games (Horizon Worlds, Beat Saber and Real VR Fishing). In addition, users visiting the Meta Store will be able to test Quest 2 virtual reality glasses and Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses.
This isn’t actually Meta’s first attempt at a physical store. The company had previously tested the idea of popularizing virtual reality through mobile stores in various US locations. Still, he declined to share any plans for the future of the Meta Store.
Meta also tries to enter the virtual reality world from different areas. CEO Zuckerberg said the metaverse will be the “computing revolution after mobile phones.” Meta, partnering with the world’s largest eyewear company EssilorLuxottica, announced Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses.
