Meta, which renews its place on the agenda with privacy scandal almost every day, while continuing its violations, this time it was hit by a hard rock. The company, which violates Apple’s privacy principles, is on the agenda again with class action lawsuits. Here are the details…
Meta faces new cases!
According to Bloomberg, Meta monitored users’ movements without obtaining the necessary permissions, violating the transparency policy that Apple had imposed for a while. Thus, the company, which violated the App Store policies and the privacy policy of personal data, faced the risk of lawsuits.
In the past months, it has emerged with evidence that Meta can track all user clicks, typing and more with an in-app browser via Instagram and Facebook. In addition, the information is thought to include the user’s private passwords on websites and private information such as credit card.
Application Tracking Transparency (ATT), which Apple introduced into our lives with iPhone phones as of iOS 14, counts tracking as a violation of the rules unless permission is obtained from the user. After this new feature, Meta, who took his breath in court, said that they were facing a loss of 10 billion dollars.
Meta denies the accusations
The lawsuit, which was requested in the San Francisco Federal Court, will be supported by the research of former Google employee Felix Krause. According to Krause, Meta allegedly tracks user actions with code injected into browser-logging sites for the app on Instagram and Facebook.
While it was revealed that even passwords, one of the information that is not necessary for ads, were tracked, Meta admitted that it followed what users did in browsers, but stated that it was not done without the user’s knowledge.
Meta does not accept Apple’s privacy policies
Meta company, which entered our lives in June of 2021, opposes ATT, claiming that Apple will hinder the growth of small businesses. The revenue of Meta, which believes that the probability of personalized advertisements will decrease if users are stopped, fell by 10 billion dollars as a result of ATT principles, according to the statements made.
