What is a Meta Horizon Profile and how is it created?
Meta changed the login method of VR headsets a while ago and removed the Facebook account requirement. In the latest statement from the company, the profiles to be used for VR headsets and Horizon World have been announced. Facebook and Instagram will not be needed to use Meta Quest or log into the virtual world.
The social media giant still allows creating Meta accounts via Instagram and Facebook, but does not require it. Meta accounts created with social media platforms; It provides advantages such as live broadcast sharing, messaging and finding followers faster.
The company also said it will encourage VR users to connect via the Meta account. However, users with an Oculus account will still be able to sign in this way until 2023. After 2023, the Meta Horizon Profile will be used with the Meta account.
Meta Horizon Profile will actually create your identity in the virtual world. According to the company’s statement, you will be able to manage your avatars and communicate with your “followers” through this profile. Meta’s use of the phrase “follower” instead of “friend” aroused curiosity.
The social media giant stated that the accounts of VR users in the 13-17 age group will be automatically hidden. There will also be layers like “Public,” “Friends & Family,” and “Solo” on profiles. This will eliminate privacy concerns.
