Meta introduced its new 3D avatars for Instagram Stories and DM. It also updates avatars on Facebook and Messenger. Users who have previously created an avatar on Facebook will be able to view their new automatically updated 3D avatar.
New tools are coming to detail avatars
The technology giant states that users who want to represent themselves differently on different platforms can create 3 different avatars: different for Facebook and Messenger, different for Instagram and different for VR. Users will be able to use a single avatar on all Meta platforms if they wish.
Avatars will now feature more faces, skin tones, and expressions. Cochlear implants, on-ear hearing aids and wheelchairs can also be added to the avatars.
Meta has made the 3D avatars available to users in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The company said it will increase the customizability of avatars in the future and bring 3D avatars to users in more countries.
