There is only one problem; Some Messenger users have been notified that after May 31, Apple Watches will no longer support Messenger. However, it was stated that they will continue to receive notifications from the application during their hours. Many people reacted to this situation and waited for an explanation from Meta.
Then Meta spokesperson; “Users will continue to receive notifications on their Apple Watch. However, from the end of May, they will no longer be able to reply to incoming messages from their watch. They can continue to use Messenger on iPhone, desktop, and the web.” made a statement.
Meta unplugs Messenger app for Apple Watches
Meta did not give a reason for its decision to discontinue the Messenger app for Apple Watch, which it introduced in 2015. The application allows users to send items such as voice messages, likes and stickers without opening Messenger from the phone.
Some Facebook users think that the biggest factor in this decision is that most of the processes are done from the watch application and that little time is spent on the phone application. On the Apple side, the company seems to focus on more fitness and health features with watchOS 10. Because this may have consequences such as forcing third-party applications on Apple Watches to be pushed to the second plan.
Perhaps, the discontinuation of Messenger’s support may be a harbinger of the discontinuation of support for other applications. One way or another, as of May 31, Meta is pulling the plug on the Messenger app for Apple Watches.
