Google may soon bring the ability to edit sent messages to the Messages app. Codes discovered in the latest beta version of the Messages application show that messages can be edited. However, trying to activate these flagged codes does not help, at least for now.
Sent messages may change
Google Messages Beta Version, which is still under development, shows that messages can be edited in the future. This feature is not very new, we have previously seen similar features in WhatsApp and Apple’s iMessage application in iOS 16. Both applications have a limit on how long messages can be edited. This limit is selected as 2 minutes in iMessage and 15 minutes in WhatsApp. There is no such limit in Google’s codes.
The codes added by Google are as follows:
The first of these codes points to editing the interface for a message we want to edit. The second code allows us to change what we want to change in the messages database. The third message focuses on processing the changes made by the user who made the change, while the fourth allows editing the message sent to the recipient. When we look at the codes, we see that the changed messages will probably have a phrase like “edited”.
Google has no statement yet on the subject. For now, the company’s work on these features continues. Let’s see when Google Messages will offer this feature, which has been behind its competitors for a long time.
