The Mercedes-AMG GT has been with us for a long time. The AMG GT, which has managed to impress car lovers since its first day with its design and performance, is now coming up with its second generation after about 10 years. The new generation Mercedes-AMG GT is bigger and more powerful than its predecessor.
Mercedes-AMG GT is bigger and more powerful
In the new AMG GT, which comes out with an evolutionary design, the design is preserved in general, while important differences stand out in the details. The vehicle, which has a thinner headlight design, also includes Digital Light technology. At the rear, we see the 3D thin LED headlights extending towards each other. In addition, the active spoiler is also among the striking details.
In addition to these, Mercedes-AMG has made its new model much more aerodynamic. The louvers located on the front grille of the vehicle can change position depending on the vehicle speed, acceleration and direction of the vehicle in order to better direct the air. In addition, the rear spoiler can move in 5 different positions for better downforce over 80 km / h.
The AMG GT Coupe will come in two different versions, the GT 63 with 577 horsepower and the GT 55 with 469 horsepower. Both versions will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. The GT 63.0 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, while the GT 55 takes 3.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h.
The engine, which has been used by Mercedes-Benz for a long time, features a new oil pan, a revised intercooler and active crankcase ventilation exclusive to the second generation AMG GT model. Mercedes-AMG engineers seem to have managed to achieve this higher performance by increasing the turbo pressure and increasing the cooling.
The AMG GT’s V8 engine is paired with a weight-reduced 9-speed dual-clutch transmission. This transmission, which can transfer power to all four wheels, aims to provide the best traction by monitoring all information about the vehicle.
When we move on to the interior of the vehicle, the biggest change is the new 2+2 seating arrangement. Although Mercedes-AMG interprets the vehicle as a 4-seater, it is worth noting that it is very difficult for an adult to sit in the rear. Let’s also say that the rear seats can be folded for more luggage space.
The cockpit design has a structure that we now recognize from other Mercedes-Benz models. A large infotainment system screen is located in the center of the vehicle, and a digital instrument panel is located in front of the driver. In both vehicles, it is possible to follow the vehicle’s performance data on the infotainment system screen.
