Developing technology enables innovations to be made in the automobile industry as well as in many other sectors. Giant brands such as Tesla and Mercedes-Benz want to offer convenience and comfort to users with the autonomous driving systems they have developed. German auto giant Mercedes-Benz announced last year that its third-level autonomous driving system had been approved.

As the systems are developed, they also add modes to the cars that allow the drivers to have fun. Among these modes, there is also the drift mode, most of which are offered sports. In most of these modes, the driver is in control of the vehicle. However, Mercedes-Benz wants to take this a step further and combine it with autonomous driving.

Autonomous drift mode may be available on new models

Mercedes continues to work on electric vehicles. The company recently introduced the 2024 Mercedes AMG C63 S, which has an electric motor. The German auto giant is also considering adding autonomous drift mode to future electric vehicles.

Joerg Bartels, Mercedes’ Global Vehicle Development manager, announced in an interview that the company will offer the automatic drift mode to users. Stating that they can integrate this technology into their vehicles, Bartels stated that they need a lot of space for the automatic drift mode, but that this is not the only problem for the implementation of this system, the company has to take the steering control from the driver in order to implement the autonomous drift mode. According to the manager, this feature can be implemented in a short time.

Autonomous drift technology may appear in future Mercedes-Benz models and even in the recently introduced AMG C63 S model.
