Mercedes will launch a quarterly ChatGPT beta program for customers in select vehicles and in the US during the first phase of the process. Mercedes also says it will consider a wider and more permanent distribution in the future.
Mercedes will be smarter with ChatGPT
ChatGPT integration could power the automaker’s “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant. Instead of just answering simple, pre-programmed commands like “Turn on the heater” or “What’s the weather,” he can have natural conversations about almost any topic, including contextual follow-up questions.
Mercedes and Microsoft highlight the “enterprise-grade security, privacy and reliability” of Azure for data protection. Still, the companies explain that your conversations will be “stored in the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud, where it will be anonymized and analysed.” The quarterly beta will begin on June 16 and will only cover select Mercedes models using the MBUX infotainment system. To enter the program with a qualified model, it will be enough to say “Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program” to the vehicle’s built-in voice assistant. Here is the list of suitable vehicles.
