Brands sometimes recall their vehicles when they detect a production-related problem that cannot be solved by users. The recalled vehicles are handed over to their owners after the necessary arrangements are made. The last recall in this regard was made by Mercedes-Benz.
Thousands of Mercedes-Benz EQS being recalled
According to announcements from China’s State Market Regulatory Administration (SAMR), Mercedes-Benz has decided to recall more than 3,000 all-electric car models sold in China. The German manufacturer will recall two different vehicles sold in China with this transaction.
The first recall covers 2,324 all-electric EQS sedans imported into China. It is stated that the electric drive module may be disabled due to a software problem, and that the vehicle may cause loss of power and increase the risk of accident.
According to the recall notice, the affected vehicles include models manufactured between June 14, 2021 and July 8, 2022. The update to be made after the recall will be made free of charge at the company’s authorized dealers.
The second recall consists of 1,51 imported EQS sedans produced between June 14, 2021 and February 16, 2022. The reason for this recall was shown as the failure to notify the user when there is a high voltage problem in the battery. The German automaker will update the software of the battery management system free of charge through its local dealer network to fix the problem.
Mercedes-Benz recalled more than 30,000 imported S-Class and EQS vehicles in China last month due to an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) software problem. The company invited EQE, EQS and EQS SUV models to authorized services for updating due to a similar problem in the USA in June.
Recently, Mercedes-Benz has been frequently mentioned with recalls. The fact that the electric vehicles, in which the company invests heavily, cause problems, may leave a question mark for customers.
