MediaTek opens its subsidiary to the stock market

MediaTek, the world’s number one and Taiwan’s second largest chip company, is preparing a subsidiary of it to become a world giant. Airoha wireless technologies subsidiary will be listed on Taiwan stock exchange soon.

Who is Airoha?

Established in 2001, Airoha company focuses on wireless connectivity solutions such as WiFi, GPS, xPON, mainly Bluetooth. MediaTek had become a major shareholder in 2007 by purchasing shares of Benq.

Some parts of itself in 2017 It became a subsidiary by incorporating it into Airoha. Airoha has gained huge customers such as Sony, JBL, Beats in the new period. The subsidiary, which has reached a valuation of 3.3 billion dollars with the significant investments it has received, was opened to the Taiwan stock market.

Airoha, which will be Taiwan’s largest chip listing in recent years, will be in the innovation zone in the first 6 months and will be removed from the stock market if it fails to perform as expected. If it meets expectations, it will switch to standard stock exchange listing.

Airoha, which is struggling with important competitors such as Qualcomm and Realtek in the Bluetooth market, will be able to capture a larger market share with the support of MediaTek. MediaTek also aims to give Airoha employees bonuses from stock market earnings. Thus, the problem of sharing bonuses with MediaTek employees will be eliminated.
