MediaTek, which hit rock bottom after the unsuccessful Helio X adventure, entered into a serious restructuring process and achieved miracles. In the market where Qualcomm was once the leader, MediaTek now has the say. However, things are not going well.

MediaTek is still the leader

According to the research based on mobile chip shipments in the second half of the year, MediaTek maintained its leadership with a 30 percent market share. The company managed to be the leader in the mobile chip market for 12 consecutive quarters. However, there has been a noticeable decline in the last 6 quarters.

Qualcomm has been on the rise for the last 3 quarters and reached 29 percent market share. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipsets help the company’s comeback.

It seems that Apple has lost market share in parallel with the decline in iPhone sales since last year. UNISOC, the assertive name of low-end phones, has reached the highest market share with 15 percent. Samsung is also trying to regain its previous levels.

It is stated that Qualcomm may attack and surpass MediaTek in the rest of the year. In addition, as entry-level 5G phones become more popular, UNISOC may make surprises in the new period.
