ARM-architecture processors, which appear in smartphones, have become powerful enough to challenge computers with their performance. Today, while Apple leads this market with M-series processors, other chip manufacturers are preparing to enter the ARM PC market. Among these names, MediaTek announced its future plans involving the PC market at a special event held today.

MediaTek’s first target will be the Chromebook market

As it is known, MediaTek has gained great momentum with the Dimensity series processors and has become one of the leading names in today’s smartphone market. Now, the company, which plans to carry this success to the PC market, announced that their first target will be the Chromebook market at the event. Because the chip giant, which recently introduced the Kompanio 520 and Kompanio 528 Chromebook processors, drew attention to the daily use performance and power efficiency of these processors.

In addition, MediaTek plans to prepare CPU and GPU designs in-house rather than purchasing them from third-party manufacturers. The chip giant’s computing operations will be led by MediaTek vice president and general manager of customer computing, Adam King, who previously served at Intel for a decade. Based on the shared information, we can say that the competition between Qualcomm, MediaTek and Apple in the next generation processors will accelerate.
